Discover STEM in 5 worlds of experience
Five diverse STEM experience worlds await you in the Star Truck: collaborative robotics, artificial intelligence, networking, sensor technology, and materials technology.
Here you can experience firsthand how modern technologies work and where we encounter them in everyday life – often without even noticing. At interactive stations, you can try out for yourself how robots work with humans, how AI makes decisions, and how sensors detect our environment.
This not only gives you exciting insights into current technologies, but also allows you to discover the opportunities they offer for your future – perhaps even for your own career path.
Collaborative robotics
When humans and machines work together, a new way of working emerges: safer, more efficient, and with more room for creativity.
Collaborative robotics shows how robots and humans can function as a team. The aim is not to replace humans, but to provide them with targeted support, relieve them of some of their workload, and enable them to make even better use of their strengths.
Robots have long been part of our everyday lives—in manufacturing, logistics, medicine, nursing, and even catering.
In the Star Truck, you can experience firsthand how these intelligent machines work, take on tasks, and support people. You will see how technology simplifies workflows, improves processes, and creates entirely new possibilities.
This makes it clear how modern technologies do not replace people, but rather empower them and directly assist them in their everyday lives.
Artificial intelligence
Intelligent systems for a smart world: Artificial intelligence analyzes data, constantly learns, and helps solve complex tasks faster and more easily.
This is how technology becomes a co-thinker — it supports us in everyday life, recognizes patterns, makes predictions, and delivers new ideas. AI is therefore not just a tool, but a real catalyst for innovative solutions and a livable future.
Whether in medicine, road traffic, or even art, artificial intelligence supports us as an intelligent tool in the background.
In Star Truck, you will discover how AI recognizes patterns, analyzes huge amounts of data, and helps us make better decisions. You will learn how this technology enables new ideas and creates innovative solutions for the future.
This makes it clear how AI does not replace humans, but works together with them — as a strong partner for tomorrow.
Networking
When technical systems interact perfectly, automated processes are created that function smoothly and efficiently. Everything is intelligently networked, coordinated, and responds in real time.
This makes technology a flexible partner: it thinks ahead, adapts, and ensures that processes run smarter, faster, and more reliably.
The result? A connected world in which innovation and collaboration are a matter of course.
In a hyperconnected world, machines, devices, and systems communicate with each other in real time. Drones fly autonomously, vehicles drive themselves, and smart factories respond to new data within seconds.
Sensors collect information, networks connect everything, and intelligent technologies ensure that processes are precisely coordinated. This creates a fascinating interplay that makes processes more efficient and shows how strongly our future will be shaped by networking.
Sensory analysis
Responsive everyday helpers make our environment safer, smarter, and more comfortable.
Intelligent sensors detect changes, measure data, and perceive things that we often cannot see with the naked eye. They react in fractions of a second and ensure that systems are automatically adjusted.
This creates a new connection between people, their environment, and technology—one that is forward-looking, efficient, and full of opportunities.
Sensors extend our senses: they detect obstacles in traffic, regulate light and temperature at home, and help us navigate safely in smart cities.
In the Star Truck, you can experience how these technologies work and how the digital and real worlds merge. You will discover how systems collect information, react at lightning speed, and support us in our everyday lives.
This creates an environment that thinks for itself, reacts, and makes our lives easier and safer.
Materials and substances
Features that make the difference: versatile, innovative, and perfectly tailored to their application.
True innovation only comes about through the targeted development and adaptation of materials. This makes products lighter, more stable, and at the same time more sustainable.
Materials technology shows how much potential the right materials hold for the future and how they can make technology more efficient and environmentally friendly.
This station is all about sustainable materials and how they can be produced in an environmentally friendly way. You will learn how raw materials are carefully selected, resources are conserved, and production processes are improved in order to save energy and reduce emissions.
It becomes clear that innovative materials are not only created through new ideas, but also through responsible thinking. It’s about developing materials that can do a lot and are good for our planet.
This shows how technology and sustainability can shape the future together.
Workshops for curious minds
After gaining practical insights in the five interactive worlds on the ground floor of the Star Truck, students have the opportunity to delve deeper into specific STEM topics on the upper floor.
In four workshop formats, they can further develop their interests, get actively involved, and discover new perspectives. In small groups, they reflect, research, and work creatively—with the aim of making STEM careers more tangible and discovering their own strengths.
The following workshops are available:
- Design Thinking – Innovative product development with creative methods
- Develop ideas for the future, work out solutions together, and present your own innovations
- Coding – Developing apps with creativity and logic
- Program your own app without any prior knowledge and slip into the role of a developer
- Data Science – Solving data puzzles with the help of AI
- Discover how artificial intelligence analyzes large amounts of data and enables new insights
- Upper Austria as a location for innovation – An interactive look at the STEM landscape
- Exciting insights into regional future projects and career paths in the STEM field
